33 Weeks

Well, it's about time for the weekly pic...I am 33 weeks now, can you believe it! Time is flying!

The big news this week is lung development—baby's respiratory system is almost completely mature. That means if your baby was born this week, odds are he'd be a healthy bouncing baby with a just a little help from his friends (aka, the NICU). Some of the specifics are:

Your baby can now detect light and tell the difference between night and day (of course that ability will miraculously disappear once she's born and up all night screaming). Her pupils will constrict and dilate in response to light. If you shine a flashlight on your belly, your baby may shy away from the light as if to say, "Cut it out, Ma. You're soooo annoying."

The bones in your baby's skull are soft and are not yet fused together. In other words, now is not the time to teach her how to do a headspin while breakdancing. This pliability allows the bones to overlap; making that trip down the tight birth canal possible (and resulting in that surprising cone head look your baby will sport for the first few days post-birth. Don't worry, it's totally normal and that's what hats are for.)

Your baby will continue to pack on the pounds gaining around ½ pound a week from here on out.

Your baby weighs about 4½ pounds, as much as a grownup duck, and is approximately 17.5 inches long, about the same as a collarbone-length pearl necklace. (Did somebody say push present?)

Wii for Sale

We have decided to sell our Wii - it's been months since we've really used it and right now we think we have a lot of other things we could use that money on...if you are interested in buying let us know...here is what we have!

Wii Bundle - $400, OBO
Wii System including all manuals
2 controllers
2 nunchuks
2 steering wheels (to play MarioKart)
Wii Fit (in the box, only used a few times)
Games: Wii Sports, MarioKart & Super Mario Galaxy

Everything works great, only slightly used!

Timber Walk ....

This weekend our neighborhood went up a few notches on the "cool" scale. We had always liked our neighborhood, but have been a little disappointed with neighborly activities. Well this year, they have been doing a great job! Last night, they planned a sprinkler night in the park for all the kiddos. The best part thought was that a firetruck came by to "sprinkle" the kids! They were having a ball...what a great idea! I wish we could have joined in actually :o)

Out on the Farm

Our good friends Megann & Matt just recently moved into a 7+ acre horse farm, with a wonderful house and plenty of room for the dogs to roam free. We are so happy for them and had a chance to spend last night cooking out and enjoying the nice summer night. It was perfect weather, they cooked steaks and even had a bonfire so we could roast marshmallows for s'mores! We had a great time...here are a few pictures of the bonfire!

Megann & I roasting our marshmallows!

Lex and Matt made the fire - only I had to remind them (from my girl scout days) to build the fire up vertically so that air could get under...Who knows what they would have done with out my girl scout skills!

Happy...

Happy Father's Day! We wish we could be with our Dad's to celebrate - but hopefully we'll see you both soon once our little girl arrives!

For Lex, I got him a "Father-To-Be" Present...

I can't wait until his little girl can wear it!

It was such a nice day here, we decided to head up north and pick some peaches! We love getting out with Ginobili and he loves getting out of the house! The peaches are excellent - now I just need to make a peach cobbler! Any good recipes?

I'm at 32 Weeks now, only 8ish more weeks to go! I can't believe it! I have started a long list of to-do's before the baby....there is really a lot to think about. But I did get two things secured this week - the pediatrician and her daycare for November! I am so happy to find a church very close to my work that had one spot open for November. I think it's going to be perfect. I can even run over during my lunch break to feed her or just hang out!

Here are a few details about what's going on with our little girl:

Although your baby will still remain active, his days of trying out for Cirque du Soleil are nearly over. About this time your baby will settle into the head-down position in preparation for birth. Other fascinating facts:

Both you and baby are putting on some serious weight at this point. You'll probably gain about a pound a week for the next few weeks, with half of that poundage bulking up baby. She'll likely double his weight in the next eight weeks.

Ever wonder what your baby is doing in there these days? She's busy blinking, looking around, grabbing things, making faces, practicing her breathing, peeing and listening to everything around her—pretty much exactly what she'll be doing for the first three months of her life, sans the adoring audience and the flashing camera.

Your baby may (or may not) have a full head of hair now.

By the end of this week, your baby will weigh about 4 pounds and measure over 17 inches long—about the length of a hot pair of above-the-knee boots. Christian Louboutin? Manolo Blahnik? We're thinking Isaac Mizrahi for Target—you've got a nursery to furnish!

Last night our wonderful friends - Sara, Ryan, Julie & Clayton hosted a Baby Shower for us! We are so thankful to have such great friends and really appreciate everything they did to put it together for us. We had a great time...here are a few pictures! I wasn't great about taking pictures, so I'm hoping that Sara & Julie will post a few too (hint, hint..haha) that I can have too!

Before the party - 31 Weeks!

Weekend Getaway

Last weekend we headed to Charleston for most likely our last little getaway before our sweet baby girl arrives. We may squeeze in one more, but most likely I shouldn't venture too far away from the area, just in case we need to head to the hospital. So far so good though, no troubles at all really throughout my pregnancy. We did get a little scare, after I failed my first glucose test, but luckily after a 2nd three hour test, my results came back fine. No worries!

Anyways, here are a few fun pics from our weekend in Charleston! We just loves this town and can't wait to take our little girl to the beach for the first time.

The view from out hotel - the Yacht Club!

On Sunday, we headed to the beach and I played with Gino and laid out while Lex surf fished for shark! He caught a total of 6 shark this weekend!

We love taking Gino with us on trips because we let him sleep in the bed with us. He just loved these beds, they were pretty darn comfy! How cute!

Here we are relaxing and soaking up the sun! We headed out to Kiawah Island and walked down the beach a good half a mile to basically have the beach to ourselves! It was so nice!

Ryan and Sara were in Charleston too that weekend, visiting a family friend. So Saturday morning Lex met up with Ryan to go fishing on one of Ryan's friends boat's and Sara and I headed into downtown Charleston to do some shopping and eat lunch. It turned out to be a beautiful day and we ate a really good "southern" lunch. I had a crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries - yummy!

Here are the boys with some of their catch for the weekend! I think they got the fishing bug, because they are going to try to head down for one day of fishing tomorrow too! Maybe this time they'll get something we can eat! :o)
