Professional Pictures

We had Katelyn's picture taken when she was just under 3 weeks old. I absolutely love them and had to share! I got them about a week ago, but just got the CD so I can print as many as I want! Here are some of our favorites!

Beachfront Weekend

This past weekend we headed out to Edisto Island, near Charleston for a nice beachfront vacation with the Ciomperlik's, Glenn's and Ryan's parents. We have never splurged on a beach front house, but since it's off season it was reasonably priced. We are now spoiled and will have to get beachfront from now on out - it was amazing. Especially with three little ones, we really didn't need to leave the house to enjoy the beach. You can't beat it!

View from our deck.
We tried to take Katelyn for a walk on the beach. She had woken up early from her nap, so we kept her swaddled to protect her from the sun. But it didn't last long b/c her hat fell off and blew into the water. Oh well...next time she will enjoy it more!

Hanging out! Doesn't she look comfy.

Before we left we tried to get one quick pic of the three of us on the beach. It was pretty windy and Katelyn was getting tired and fussy. Needless to say we didn't have much time to pose, so it's not the best pic, but you get the idea :o)

While Logan & Emery played on the beach towels, Katelyn slept! Pretty typical - she still sleeps through most of the day and night!

Clayton playing with Logan and Emery, while Sara & Julie get some R&R!

The strip that our house was on, so pretty!

This was by far my favorite spot. Katelyn and I spent a lot of time swinging and listening to the waves. Who needs a white noise machine when you have the real thing! She was so relaxed all weekend and I really believe it's because of the waves! Wish we lived on the water and she would hardly ever cry! :o)

Sorry this one is sideways...
The boys had a great time fishing. They took our boat and one of Ryan's clients that lives in the area. They caught a TON of fish - black drum, flounder, red fish and a bonnet head shark.

Lex with his big red fish catch. He had to throw it back because it was too big!

Pooped out !

What a great view! The weather was prefect, we can't wait to go back!

Playtime

Yestereday we had a playdate with Emery, Logan & Hayden. I was so proud of Katelyn, she actually played on the activity mat for 20-30 min?? Of course, she then got tired and as soon as I swaddled her she was out! We had a great time playing with the other babies, especially Hayden since he is only 2 weeks ahead of Katelyn. It was fun to see where she may be in only a few more weeks. Here is a picture of the group!

Katelyn and Hayden playing together on the Baby Einstein Activity Mat. Katelyn loves to stare at the flashing smiley face (it's hanging from the center of the cross pieces over the mat). She loves to stare at lights in general, but this one is much more fun because it has a smiley face that makes her smile!!

Yesterday Hayden sat in Emery's bumbo seat so it inspired me to see how Katelyn would do sitting in her seat. I was pleasantly surprised to see that she did very well. After about 5 minutes her head starting getting really heavy and she couldn't quite hold it up straight but it seems to be getting stronger everyday.

Katelyn is 7 weeks today!! We are starting to get some longer stretches at night too, hopefully soon she'll be able to sleep through the night - that will be the day :o)

Last night she ate around 9:15, ate round 2:00 am and and then around 7:15 this morning. Not too bad, except that it took her forever to get back to sleep in the middle of the night. But those 5 hour stretches are much better than every 3 hours :o)

6 Weeks

Today Katelyn is 6 weeks old. She is really starting to show her personality more and more. Her favorite time of day is getting her diaper changed...I guess she really enjoys the "freedom"! haha! Here are a few pictures of her smiling while I change her diaper earlier today...so cute!

Of course I also had to take an official 6 week picture with Dotty the Giraffe! She is getting so big!

It takes a long time to upload these videos so here are a few that I took a week or so ago...

Opps...a little spit up :o)

Poth's Visit

Katelyn is missing her Grammy & Pappy....

Much of her week was spent sleeping on Pappy's chest! She loved this spot. As soon as she got tired, we'd swaddle her up and Pappy would rock her to sleep...she fell right to sleep each time! Pappy must have that special touch!

Grammy enjoying some happy time with Katelyn. She is getting so cute and makes these fun faces all the time!

Pappy saying goodbye...

Grammy saying goodbye....she misses you both so much!

We are so thankful that the Poth's were able to come visit and help with Katelyn. Our freezer is now full of dinners made with love by Sandra. We are set to enjoy our evenings with Katelyn and not having to worry about cooking for awhile!

Other cute pictures of Katelyn stretching...she loves to stretch!

Our family hanging out on the back porch. The weather was really nice last week! 70's ish - it's hot again this week, but it was really starting to feel like fall last week! Beautiful!

Weekly Pictures

Yesterday was Lex's Birthday as you all know and we had a great dinner at home to celebrate. Sandra made Mexican rice, beans, chicken enchiladas and an avocado tomato salsa all by Lex's request! It was excellent!

For desert, I try to make something special for Lex each birthday. This year Sandra & Fred and gone to Abbott Farms (a really good fresh peach orchard here locally) so I made peach cobbler! It actually turned out pretty good! Here is Lex blowing out his candle - what a good sport :o)

Our Happy Family

Grammy & Pappy with Katelyn on her 5 week old birthday!

Katelyn is beginning to smile!!! We think it's on purpose now too and not just gas :o) She is such a cutie!

Here's the family at lunch on Labor Day. We took her to Mojos Burgers here in Simpsonville because we knew we could sit outside in the shade. She was a perfect little angel sleeping through pretty much the whole thing!

Katelyn's 5 week old picture! It's really hard to get her propped up in this chair, put a cute hat on her after her tummy time and getting ready for her nap...so she isn't quite happy in this picture but she is still cute :o)

Today we took her to the doctor for her one month check-up. She is now 9 lbs 14 oz...can you believe it! At 2 weeks she was in the 22nd percentile for weight and now she is in the 65 percentile! She is also now 21.5" long from 20.75" at her 2 week appointment. She did get her 2nd Hep B shot today and didn't like it too much, but only cried until we could get her paci in her mouth! Lex and I also got flu shots today and will plan to get the Swine Flu shot come October! Apparently they are already seeing 2-3 cases of Swine Flu in our Pediatricians office each day, but no worries they keep the newborns away from everyone else!

Overall, we are having a great week with the Poth's here and really enjoy all of their help! I'll try to take more pictures before they leave!

Happy Birthday Hubby

Happy Birthday to Lex...09-09-09 and he turns 29! My lucky number growing up was always the Number Nine...who would have thought I would marry the best hubby in the world born on September 9th! What a lucky number!

Katelyn is also 5 weeks today - she is really starting to be more and more alert with longer tummy times and is following voices and toys easily. Her head is getting stronger too! We are so lucky to have such a sweet baby girl! I have taken some 5 week old pictures, but I'll have to post those later! We go to her one month doctor appointment tomorrow - I can't wait to see how much she weighs and how long she is. She is growing like a weed.

This week Lex's parents, Sandra and Fred have been here visiting. They have been a big help cooking, running errands, holding and rocking Katelyn and Sandra even had the chance to give her a bottle the other night! We can't wait until Friday night, Lex and I are going to take advantage of Grammy & Grumpy's babysitting and go out on a sushi and wine date night!

Oh and here are a few tid bits about today...kind of interesting! Happy Birthday Hubby!

It's the 252nd day of the year and 252 adds up to 9. On top of that, 09.09.09 falls on a Wednesday and both the words Wednesday and September have 9 letters. This date is so rare that it is the last of the... single digit dates for another 1001 years. Now that's NOT NORMAL.

Ginobili's New Do

Lex has been wanting to give Ginobili a good hair cut for years! He finally purchased some dog clippers and went to town on Gino this week.

We love Gino so much, but his hair really gets to be a pain in the house. So...we'll see how this new "Do" works on the hair problem.

What do you think??

After:

These pictures barely do it justice. He looks like a little pup again! Check out that tail too...next time I think we'll try to leave a little more hair on his tail :o)
