Halloween Fun

Halloween 2011 - starring Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street

Katelyn has loved Abby sooo much over the past year that we didn't even consider any other costume for her this year. It was so much fun! Although, she was able to dress up at least 4 times over the last week, so the newness of it had worn off by the time actual Halloween night came :)

We trick or treated with Andy & Emery around the whole neighborhood. They were such troopers & a little hyper by the time we made it home.

Emery - the elephant, Andy - the lion, & Katelyn - as Abby

On Friday, Katelyn's class at school had their Fall Party, so we headed up just for lunch. It was so cute to watch her interact with her little friends & teachers. I hear her talk about all her friends, so it was nice to finally put a face to a name for some of them.

Making scary faces out of left over stickers from our playgroups Halloween craft! There is one of me like this too, but I opted not to post it...haha!

On Wednesday of last week we had our annual playgroup Halloween party. Most of them were not too into having their pictures taken or being confined to the couch, but aren't they cute anyway!

Seri provided lots of fun crafts for us to do too - we used ours as Halloween decorations all week long - thanks Seri!

What a fun time! I love the Fall! And tomorrow is November - even better! I was really hoping I didn't have this little guy on Halloween! :)

37 weeks (Full Term)

So today marks the official full-term mark. So basically if this little guy decides to arrive anytime after today, we should be in the clear. I would like him to cook a little longer actually. My Mom is planning to come November 3rd (12 days before my due date), in hopes that if he should arrive early, she is here to help with Katelyn. My sis, Cindy, also noticed that there is a full moon on the evening of November 10th - and you know the saying that women tend to go into labor with a full moon. That day would be pretty cool because, then he would have an 11-11-11 birthday (assuming I went into labor the night before) - how much better can you get?!?

For real though, we are as prepared as we can be at this point. Bags are packed, car seat is installed, baby books read, nursery decorated, some meals frozen - now all we need is a little baby boy!! We can't wait to see his cute little face!

35, 36 & a Stay-cation!

I am officially 36 weeks, so less than a month left until our little man arrives! woo hoo!! The pic above is at 35.5 weeks and the one below is 36 weeks (worst pic ever, but I was not feeling it, so it will have to do :)

On Friday Lex took the day off so we could have a little family stay-cation. We talked about taking a short weekend trip to Dollywood or the mountains, but ended up just heading to Charlotte for the day to do some shopping, etc. We ended up running across a Botanical Garden that was beautiful. It was all decked out for Fall with plenty of hiking and a lake view. We had a great time!

Before we even got there, we were talking about going to a garden, etc. and Katelyn asked if they would have a water fountain...we had no idea...but luckily they had a ton (probably 20 different fountains spread out), she was in heaven!

On Saturday we hit up Fall for Greenville, which is a yearly tradition. It's a huge festival held in downtown where all the great restaurants come out and set up booths, where you can get sample size dishes. We ate - shrimp and grits, kettle corn, pimento cheese burgers, some kind of German food (i wasn't a fan of that one), shrimp po-boy, cupcakes, gelato, etc. Yum! And Katelyn got another round on a carousel.

Sunday, we took Katelyn to her very first movie in a theater!! We were trying to come up with things that we wouldn't be able to do with her once this new little guy joined the fam. We saw the Lion King, which we completely forgot the story line and how it probably wasn't the best movie for her watch. Luckily, I don't think she caught on to Mufasa dying - she just thought he was sleeping :) She lasted a good hour and then wanted to run around the theater, so we just headed out at that point. Overall, I think she really enjoyed it!

Fall Fun

We had such a great day today enjoying the beautiful Fall weather! We started the day off by heading up to Sky Top Apple Orchard in North Carolina with the Glenn's. It's somewhat of a tradition for us and apparently has become a tradition for lots of families b/c every year we go, it's more and more crowded, but totally worth it. First of all, it's beautiful in the mountains, the apples are fantastic, they have a ton of stuff for the kiddos to play on, live animals, hayrides, caramel apples, hot cider, and even hot fresh apple & pumpkin donuts! Now all they need is a coffee shop :)

We have a TON of apples now. I'm thinking of drying some in my dehydrator and making some sort of yummy dessert! After a fun morning, we headed home took naps and then headed to the GE Family Day Carnival. This was amazing! They had all kinds of carnival rides, bounce houses, arts & crafts, a live band, and best of all - all you can eat FREE carney food! We had a nice sampling of it all - funnel cakes, popcorn, popsicles, cotton candy, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders, beans, salads, corn on the cob, cookies & ice cream. Katelyn was wired by the end :) Too bad now she associates all this good stuff with carnivals, next time we do something like she won't be able to have everything she wants - she may have gotten a little spoiled, but it was a blast!

A few other recent pics...Katelyn, Gino & her bowling animal friends all lined up waiting for Daddy to get home from work.

The trail down to the creek behind our house was recently cleared out, so we've been heading down to throw rocks in the creek almost everyday. Katelyn decided that Mommy didn't need to hold her hand anymore going up the stairs, so she went up and down them at least 2 or 3 times...great exercise for those little legs!

We also got our first pumpkin of the season this week and started by painting it. I think this week we may carve it too. K's favorite color right now is orange, so she LOVES this little pumpkin!

We are loving this weather! Definitely trying to take advantage of it as much as we can because I have a feeling this winter we will be stuck inside a little more than Katelyn will enjoy! Come on baby boy :)

All decked out!

My Mom mailed us the curtains for the babies room, since I couldn't wait any longer to get the room together (thank you!!) I feel so much better now that everything is all put together & absolutely adorable as well. I am so impressed with the job that she did & so thankful to have her spend so much time doing this for her newest little grandson! He is one lucky guy to have such great grandparents and so much love from everyone even before he arrives. I really wish I could show you the best pictures of the room (to include his name), but I guess there will plenty of time for that once he arrives. This gives you a pretty good shot of the room though. (And some of you may try to guess based on the little sneak peak of the first letter of his name...we'll see what you come up with :)

Katelyn's room has been done for awhile, but here are a few pictures of her big girl room too. I just think it's adorable! So girly & sweet!

Saturday Katelyn got all decked out (just like the new bedrooms) in her Aggie gear, thanks to Aunt Cindy! She was so happy to cheer them on....

...and we even taught her how to WHOOP with the correct form!

Too bad we lost, maybe it was because she was napping the 2nd half and wasn't there to cheer :/ ??
