Levi's First Day of K3

Levi started preschool this week at our church. I am so thankful for this program we found (and that Lex was willing to get up at 2 am and wait in line to register him) and can already tell it is the perfect fit. His teacher is so sweet, the other parents and kids seem great, they are so organized, and all the teachers are certified teachers. He'll be going 2 days a week and we really look forward to a great year ahead.

The first day went great! The second day, he did not want me to go, but his teacher swooped in, gave him a pep talk, and a big hug and he was good. She is the perfect match for him! Yay! We were at church this morning and the director of the preschool happened to be in Kyler's room and she already knew Levi's name from 2 days of school, I was so impressed!

When Levi was in school. Kyler and I went to a baby class at the library, which he thoroughly enjoyed!! And our new MOPS group, where he played with more babies for 2 1/2 hours and I had a chance to visit with some other Momma friends. We had a great week!

Corpus Christi / Mustang Island State Park

We took a quick trip to the coast over Labor Day weekend and had such a great time. This was the first time all 5 of us stayed in the same hotel room and it worked out well. Luckily the room had a big closet, so Kyler's pack-n-play went there. We also lucked out by having a sliding bathroom door, which Levi deemed "our elevator" door and he took many trips up and down and to lots of different places. He keeps asking to go back and to make sure we go to the same hotel so we can have an elevator in our room again!

In Texas, you can drive on the beach, which was so nice. We got there really early, Kyler already fell back asleep, so he took a quick nap while Lex got the big kids started feeding the seagulls.

The rest of the time, we played trucks in the sand, dug lots of holes, took walks along the beach, jumped the waves, surfed the waves, etc. etc. It was so fun!

This was Kyler's first time to the beach and he just giggled every time a wave came up to him. He loved every bit of it.....until he decided he didn't need to hold my hand and fell face first into the water. After that he decided digging and long walks on the beach were more his thing!!

Katelyn especially loved feeding the birds...Levi especially loved chasing the birds!!

Love this picture!

Kyler even figured it all out...

Lex turned 35 last week and we met up with Grammy & Pappy for dinner at Two Step a Texas style restaurant not far from us, it was delish!!

Cowboy Hall of Fame

 Quoted from Fred Poth's blog:

Great Uncle William Jennings Bryan Campbell was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame this past Fricay, 8-14-2005, before the anual rodeo.  Uncle Bryan, who was the youngest of six children was our Grandmother, Mary Ann's, brother.  The other siblings were brothers, Tom and Leo, and sisters, Ellen Campbell Tausch, and Alice Campbell.  Uncle Bryan and Aunt Alice never married and lived and worked the family ranch which was between eight and nine thousand acres.  They had two loyal people who with their families lived and helped with all of the workings of the ranch, Margarito and Manuel Guevara.  Taking care of the cattle and all the various jobs was more than full time effort.  I can just imagine how much time it would take just keeping the fences up in shape to turn cattle.  The ranch had two major creeks which would get on rises mostly during spring rains.  One the Borrego, spanish for sheep, drained over 214,000 acres and had drainage which extended into neighboring Wilson and Bexas counties.  Uncle Bryan was a quiet man but in his youth was said to be one of the best cowboys to sit a horse.
Pictured at the induction are nineteen either grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and some wives and husbands of our Carnes side of the Campbell family.  My Dad, Leissner Poth, often said, " There is nothing better to a Carnes than another Carnes".
