Kids First Time to College Station

Our friends, the Owens', invited us to tailgate with them at the first Aggie football game this year. They have an RV and a great set up. We decided not to try and go into the game with 5 kids in tow, so we hung out and watched the game at the tailgate. We got up early and stopped at Bucky's for breakfast kolaches, got to CS early enough to shop a little for some new Aggie gear, drove around campus a tad, but decided the traffic was too much and we spent the rest of the day at the tailgate. We had a great experience and hope to brainwash the kids to go to A&M one day :)

We brought the kids bikes & scooters, which kept them entertained most of the day!

The kiddos snuggled up watching a movie in the RV.

Little Miss Macie is adorable!!

Kilgore Family Time

My Grandmother, Granny, passed away on August 23rd. I was lucky to have been able to fly up the weekend before to see her, not knowing that she would only have a few more days. I feel so blessed to have had that time with her.  She was amazing and so healthy most of her life, but when the cancer hit she was in a lot of pain. I am thankful to know that she is in a better place now, reunited with the rest of her family.

Our little family traveled up to DFW to attend the funeral, which turned out to be a 3 day affair with the visitation, funeral and a memorial reunion. We loved catching up with extended family. We were also finally able to celebrate Mimi and Katelyn's birthday's and for the first time in a long time celebrated Pop's birthday on his actual birthday!

Granny is on the far right.

Three sleepy kids on the drive up to DFW.

Aunt Cindy is a much better braider than I :)

Finally cake time!

My cousin, Amiee, works at this cute venue in Weatherford and was able to reserve it for our Poindexter Family Reunion/Memorial. The grounds around it were beautiful too!

Happy Birthday Dad!!

On the way home, Kyler trying to force himself to go to sleep.....lol...it didn't work!

Extra sister time was so nice....two weekends in a row!

And a few bonus boy pictures from our little shenanigans since Katelyn's been in school.

Levi's First Day of Pre-K

Levi's First Day of Pre-K was the Wednesday after Labor Day. He was confident with not a worry in sight. His class has about 50% of the kids from his class last year and he just walked in like he hadn's skipped a beat from last school year (even though it's a new teacher and they renovated all the classrooms). I just love this school and how they have loved and instilled confidence in this little one here. I hope Kyler has the same experience when he's old enough to go.

One of Levi's best friends, Sophia. They could care less that he is a head taller than her. I love it! And she is the sweetest and so is her Momma!  :)

First Day of 2nd Grade

We went to get Frozen Yogurt the night before school started, I think this will become a little tradition of ours.

All dressed and ready! She was so excited this year and couldn't wait to get back. She missed some of friends and knew a lot of the 2nd grade teachers, so she knew she'd like whoever she got. She was still saying she wants to be an inventor when she grows up, but over the past couple of weeks, that has changed to teacher. She loves the "work" part of school, but also loves recess, art, PE, and lately started saying she likes math! She loves to read and I never have to remind her to do her reading in the evenings, she read every night with us before bed and then on her own while she falls asleep.

Meet the Teacher night!

Last Days of Summer

We had a great summer, I can't believe we are already a few weeks into the school year, but here are a few fun things before school started and some summer fun from the past few weekends too.

Pool Lunches were our favorite this summer!

Levi graduated up a Level at Aquatots, he is learning so much. We'll probably take a break until the spring though, so hopefully he won't forget what he's learned.

One of Lex's co-workers brought his daughter, Sarah, with him from Connecticut to stay with us during the two days he worked at the San Antonio office. She is the same age at Katelyn, so we hoped they would have fun together.

We also hit up Pump It Up and McDonald's. And Sarah had us do a photoshoot the first night they were here...LOL.

Katelyn found a friend at the pool one day....a frog!

The kids begged to go to the pool on a cloudy day, so I just sat on the edge and watched, it was so nice and relaxing....for 5 minutes, until someone started whining or fighting....I was close to relaxing at least! :)

Lindsay came in for a visit and after one of the big rains she went with Lex and the kids to check out the ranch. They had a blast rescuing some of the fish, exploring, and getting stuck in the mud with the mule. :)

Love this picture! She sure loves these pups!

Labor Day weekend we went to a Brian's Graduation party in Gruene and had a great time catching up with old friends.

On actual Labor Day we went to Fiesta Texas for the first time. It's only a few minutes from our house and we got a great deal on the tickets (and apparently a lot of San Antonio did too)!! It was packed. We got there way before it opened so the morning wasn't too bad and most of the kiddie rides didn't have long lines, but once we made it to the water park in the afternoon it was way too crowded for our taste, so we headed out about 4:30. Overall, we had a great time. Katelyn has no fear and rode everything she was tall enough for. Levi loved the train the best and the kiddie rides, but wasn't quite ready for a big roller coaster yet. And Kyler didn't show any fear on any of the kiddie rides (including a little roller coaster). On a side note, as we were waiting in this line pictured below to get into the park, Katelyn turned white and decided she wanted to go home (she'd been looking forward to this all week, so we knew she was really getting sick). We put her in the stroller and went straight to the gift shop for Motrin, 20 minutes later her fever was gone and she had a great time. Whew, we dodged a bullet there.
