FGP Day O' Fun

Yesterday FGP had our annual meeting & awards banquet. We started off at work at 8:30 and finished up a few things before they gave us our schedule for the day. It was all a surprise up until this point....at 10:00 we were scheduled to go bowling - the whole company packed up, split into teams and headed down to AVF lanes to bowl a few games together! From there we headed to Cesar's for lunch and a short talk about 2005 and our plans for 2006. From there we were instructed to head to the Palmetto Expo Center for yet another surprise. When we all arrived we walked into a room with 3 African drummers dancing around and making music. We were each given our own hand carved drum and sat in a semi-circle. No explanation was given at first, we all just joined in on the fun. The lady, all dressed in her traditional African attire, instructed us while we created a beat and chanted! By the end of the session we were all up dancing around with tambourines and laughing our heads off! The whole moral of the session was how as a team, if we lose one portion of that team, the rest of the team can't survive, so play off of each other and you can create beautiful music! What a day! We got off by 3:30 and had an awards banquet planned for 7:00 that night!

The banquet was held at Soby's (www.sobys.com). It's pretty much the happening spot on most Friday and Saturday nights in downtown Greenville. Well, we had reserved the apartment behind the restaurant for the evening. It felt like we were in a New York loft or on one of those HGTV shows - lets just say the place was well designed. It had a full kitchen, large dining room that sat 20, two bedrooms and a roof top deck! We were going in style last night! The food was excellent as well: shrimp and grits (a South Carolina thing), beef tenderloin, crab cakes, wrapped sausage, artichoke dip, steamed veggies, fruit and of course cheese and wine! Yummy! Anyways, we had a good time. Check out the website with pics of the apartment!
