3 Weeks

Today Katelyn is 3 weeks old. Time sure is flying! I realized that I hadn't been taking pictures of the two of us...so I set the timer on my camera and tried to get a pic...this is what we got! She looks great...I'm looking a little tired (long nights still :o)

She is becoming more and more alert every day so we have been having longer tummy times. In the last few days she has done a great job at following toys and turning her head to follow the toy. I actually captured it on video this afternoon! Enjoy!

League Champs

Lex, Clayton & Joyce won the league champs in sand volleyball this summer! Great job guys! Wish Katelyn and I could have come to cheer you on!

First Real Bath

Sunday we gave Katelyn her first real bath. We were in a crunch for time, so we didn't get a chance to bust out the shower contraption...hopefully we'll get that part set up soon! She ended up really enjoying it I think, or at least didn't despise it too much! Here is a video to capture to moment! (We kept it "G" rated so she's not embarrassed when she's older :o) Enjoy!

Another cute pic of wide eyed Katelyn and her Daddy enjoying the afternoon!

Katelyn got a really nice present from Lindsay & Greg this weekend too...all the way from China Town in Singapore! You can see we have already hung it on the wall...You may need to click on it to see it up close, but it's a hand painted banner with her name, the "Year of the Ox" - Summer 2009, Stamp of "love & happiness", and her birthday in Chinese! We love it and think it goes so well in her nursery! Thanks Lindsay & Greg!

Fun Info

So here are a few fun facts about Katelyn:

  • Your baby's half birthday is February 3
  • Your baby's birthstone is Peridot or Jade (Married Happiness)
  • Your baby's Astrological Sign is Leo
  • Your baby's Flower is Gladiola or Poppy (Orange, Red and Light Green)
  • Your baby was born in the Chinese Year of The Brown Earth Cow
  • Your baby will start kindergarten in 2014, be old enough to drive a car in 2025, finish high school in 2027, and will graduate from college with the class of 2031, give or take a year. Can you imagine?
  • This time last year you weren't even pregnant yet!
Also, my Mom sent me a few baby pictures of me...I think there are some good resemblances, but Katelyn is by far cuter - definitely the Lex influence that makes her just so adorable!

2 Weeks Old

Yesterday marked Katelyn's 2 Week Birthday! I can't believe it. Days are really starting to fly by. She is growing up so fast already. We went to the doctor today and she is now 7 lbs. 8 oz...we are so happy she has been putting on some weight, that means she is eating well! She also jumped from the 40th percentile on head circumference to the 70th - which basically means she is going to be a smarty (that brain is growing fast)! :o)

Here she is with Dotty the Giraffe. I will try to take milestone pictures with Dotty to help show how much she is growing! It's a little difficult right now since she can't really sit up on her own yet, so here's one laying on her changing pad too!

Getting some Daddy time in after a walk around the block! You can tell she loves her Daddy so much! Or thinks he looks funny - one of the two! JK!

On Tuesday, Sara & Emery came over to visit. Katelyn got to have her first playdate, although it was very short lived. I think she laid here for a total of maybe a minute. Just enough time to get a picture. She is getting better about tummy time though and starting to get content with it.

Lex decided to put our cucumbers to good use this week too and made Dill Pickles. He jarred them and everything. They are great and now we are excited about making some bread & butter pickles next. Plain old cucumbers are staring to get old, so now we can save these to eat throughout the year!

Snuggle Time

I decided to purchase a camcorder with some gift card money...This video is the first of many, and was quickly one of my favorites. The upload took a bit, so we'll have to knock down the format a bit for the next ones. Hope you enjoy!

Updates...Sorry it took so long!

So I know many of you have been wondering why I have not updated the blog...it has been killing me not too, but our internet connection has been very bad lately...we got it fixed today and I am excited to finally post some new pictures of Katelyn!

This is one of my favorites! She is getting more and more alert everyday! This little outfit was given to us by my good friend Susan - she's still a little small for it, but that just means she'll have more time to wear it and grow into it! Thanks Susan!

Sleepy girl - yawning is one of best daily activities! So cute!

I wanted to post a picture of the rocking chair we now have in Katelyn's room too. It's my great grandmonther, Mammaw's chair. We are so thankful that my Granny passed it down to us and plan to take very good care of it. My Mom made the cushions, pillow, quilt and giraffe animal for Katelyn. We just love it and Thank both of you! It's perfect for her room!

Just chilling in her swing - Thanks Julie & Clayton for letting us borrow this. She loves it and we do too!

Pops playing with Katelyn in her swing.

My Mom held a quick photo shoot of Katelyn while she was here. This picture is definitely professional quality. The blanket is handmade and given to Katelyn by my Aunt Mary Alice. It is beautiful and so soft! Thank you!!

The day we came home from the hospital Ginobili was waiting anxiously for our arrival. He still doesn't know what to think of Katelyn, but is getting used to her being around. The first several days he seemed very depressed, but now he's just taking it all in - smelling her and curious what she's doing all the time. They are going to be good friends one day!

I love her little arms. When she wakes up from her nap she stretches them way over her head. It makes her head look huge since her little arms are still so small. Man, babies are entertaining!

The Sunday after we came home from the hospital we had our parents, my sister and the Ciomperliks & Glenn's over for lunch. Here Logan, Emery & Katelyn are meeting for the first time! They have many play dates ahead of them!

Two of my good friends from work came by last week to meet Katelyn as well, Marisa (who is expecting in December) and Besty! It was great to catch up and stay in the loop on what all is going on at work!

The Poth's left on Sunday after Katelyn was born, but we can't wait for them to come back the first week of September. Katelyn will have changed so much by then so we can't wait to have them see how much she can do!

My Mom & Katelyn before her first doctor appointment. She did great and only lost 2 oz. since she was born! What a relief! We go back on Thursday for her two week appointment, I can't wait to see how much she weighs!

We gave Katelyn her first sponge bath in the kitchen sink. She really didn't seem to mind it too much! Let's just hope she enjoys the real thing once her belly button is ready for a dip!

Here's another cute pick from the photo shoot...She doesn't really enjoy being on her belly too much yet, but we are working on building up some tummy time to get her used to it!

I guess she doesn't enjoy getting her picture taken too much yet...haha! too cute!

My parents left this past Friday - they were such a great help - cleaning, cooking, doing laundry. I just wish they were here this week because Katelyn is so much more fun now that she is more alert and she is eating better! Can't wait for you to come back!

I'll keep the pictures coming now that the internet is working here! We also got a camcorder this week, so we'll start posting some cute videos too!

38 Weeks

No real news at this point...we are 38 weeks and 3 days! Went to the doc today and I have progressed a little, but they are still telling me it could be tonight or two weeks from now! Guess it's all up to this little girl!

In the meantime, we are trying to eat out as much as possible and hang out with as many people as we can. Once she arrives, it will be a little more difficult to get out of the house, at least for the first several weeks!

We'll keep ya updated!
