Field Trip

Katelyn's school had their first Field Trip to Niven's Apple Farm today. It was so cute to see the kids all decked out in their tie dye shirts, picking apples, running the corn maze, eating snack and lunch, going on a hayride - it was a perfect little morning.

Levi tagged along too! He had a great time, although the next two pictures show him yawning and cringing/grinding his teeth ?!? His favorite part was running through the corn maze - flapping his arms as he rode in the Baby Bjorn!

We got our new iPhones a few days ago. We've never had any type of smart phone until now, so I've had fun taking pictures and playing with it. Here are a few pictures from this afternoon. It's not great at catching quick moving kids, but overall, it's a pretty good little camera.

Levi loves the freedom he gets after his tray and bib are removed after a meal...he stands, throws his arms up and laughs so loud! It's so cute, glad I have a handy little camera to capture these moments now!

What a fun day we had!

Sky Top 2012

We couldn't wait until it got chilly this year, we headed up to Sky Top Apple Orchard on Sunday afternoon for our annual apple picking trip. It was only 70 degrees, but it was toasty. It doesn't quite feel right picking apples when it's toasty, but we had a great time anyway. Every year gets a little more exciting as Katelyn gets more into it. Plus, Levi loves being outside doing anything, so he was happy to just chill.  This time last year, Levi was still in my belly picking apples, so hard to believe!

We brought the little red wagon to haul the kids, but it ended up mainly hauling my big bag and the apples...

Yumm...so tasty!

The day isn't complete until we've had a caramel apple while playing at the playground! Every year this place gets more and more crowded. What a fun Fall tradition! I have the windows open while the kids nap this afternoon....I LOVE this time of year, puts me in the best mood ever!

Happy Fall Y'all!

Levi's First Haircut

Last week I decided it was about time I trimmed Levi's bang area. His hair is getting pretty long all over, but I like the longer hair look and want it to grow out a little bit more, but his bangs were starting to get in his eyes, so at lunch one day I just brought out the scissors and hoped for the best!  It didn't turn out too bad, just don't look too closely. I'm hoping to hold out for his first real haircut awhile longer and we'll go to a professional for that :)

Pleasanton Trip

We had a nice visit in Pleasanton, spending extra time with Grammy & Pappy and the Poth family!  Here are a few pictures from our visit.

Cousin time after Mammaw's funeral. Both kids love their cousins. Just wish we got to see them more often!

We were also able to see my Aunt Linda Kay & Uncle Bubbie that live in San Antonio as well. Although it was brief, we were sure glad to see them too!

This boy loves airplanes!

And this girl, loves flying on airplanes!

September 9th, 2012

Lex's 32nd birthday didn't quite turn out as I had planned, but yet a day we will never forget. We made a last minute trip to Texas when his grandmother, Mammaw, was slowly saying goodbye to this world. We were able to arrive Saturday night and visit with her Sunday morning. Lex and several of his family members were able to say their last goodbyes as she drifted peacefully into heaven that afternoon. We truly believe that she was waiting until Lex was there and able to say goodbye. Her last day on earth was also Lex's birthday.  A day and moment he will never forget. I only wish I was able to know her better myself. I do know that she has an amazing family and I am truly thankful for everything she did in raising her son, LFP Jr., being such an amazing role model for her grandson, LFP III, and I am so blessed to have been given the opportunity to raise her great grandson, LFP IV and great granddaughter, Katelyn.

It wasn't the birthday I had planned, but a much more special birthday in the end.

We did manage to let him open a few presents and eat a few last minute cupcakes before we left on Saturday.

Mammaw's 100th Birthday Party

10 Months

Levi turned 10 months old on the 8th (I am a little late due to our trip to Texas)! I took this picture the morning of his month-birthday though, so it's accurate :) He is definitely learning a lot these days and asserting his opinions in every way possible. He knows what he wants, that is for sure :) He has "said" several words, but mainly just part of the words or something that sounds very similar to the word. We are probably the only ones that can tell what he's saying, but here are a few examples.....Bye Bye, Light, Amen (during prayers at dinner, too cute), Kiki, water, bubbles, Uh-Oh (only the "uh"), NoNoNo (he knows this one well and loves shaking his head no), More, Dada, Mama, etc. He signs a few things...light, fan, airplane, all done (kind of), more (one time), waves hi/bye, and claps. It's amazing what all he understands too, he can follow simple directions and listens most of the time :) He had 2 teeth when he turned 10 months, but in the past week, he got 4 more! I didn't even realize it. I thought he was getting more bottom teeth, but out popped the top 4 teeth out of no-where. There are still bulges on the bottom too, so maybe those are close behind.  He also started standing for several seconds on his own. He will only do it if there is music on in the background, so maybe we need to put on loud music all day long so he will learn to walk too! I am ready for this boy to walk, they are just so cute when they toddle around! We've still got a long way to go, but he is starting to get more confident. If only he would just let go of our fingers, I bet he could do it.

Oh to be the younger child....

Luckily, he loved this.... :)

First Day of School

Katelyn started Preschool on Tuesday at a really cute little church school here in Simpsonville. All but one of the kids in her class is from our playgroup, so she has a lot of familiar faces and good friends. She seem to have a great first day and was happy to go back today with all smiles when I picked her up, so I think it's going to be a good year! She was very cooperative before school on Tuesday for a quick photo session :)

Her teacher, Mrs. Keeley

The school has a Facebook page for the parents and they put up a picture during school today....here they are making play-doh!

On a side note, today was Levi and I's first day at MOPS/Moppets as well. I was a little nervous about how he would handle his nap, but he did fabulous and the ladies who watched him during our meeting said he was such a sweet baby and was going to grow up to be a heart breaker! I am very thankful he did well, so I can enjoy some time for adult/non-kid conversation with other moms.
