Lex was given a chance to attend a conference in Nice and his boss even flat out told him it was a good one for his wife to tag along on too....so we took that as good excuse for a little getaway!!!
And we're off....it was a long trip but over the course of the trip I watched at least 9 movies and read and entire 400+ page book. Which I never do either, so that in itself was a vacation for me! Lex was upgraded to first class on our leg between Atlanta & JFK, so he let me take his seat! Check out that leg room!
We made it on time!! We arrived around 10 am on Tuesday of last week, so we checked into the hotel and headed straight out to start exploring. Here's the view from our hotel room.
We took the bus into the heart of Nice and went to the Castle on the Hill to start our trip off. If you look close you can see stairs leading up to the top! It was beautiful!
Looking to the right from the top of the Castle is pictured above. Below is looking off to the left towards the marina.
We then headed to wander the streets a little and found the famous flower / farmers market. It was so picturesque.
Taking a little break on the famous blue chairs overlooking the rocky beach on the Promenade. The weather was pretty chilly for me, highs in the low 60's, but there were people in swimsuit on the beach.
The next day Lex started his conference so I was on my own. I woke up slowly, got dressed leisurely, ate breakfast late and eventually strolled store to store just to explore. It was fantastic. After shopping and a late lunch, I came back to the hotel read a book and waited for Lex to finish for the evening. Then we headed to a nice dinner and relaxed. It was rainy the next two days which gave me a great excuse to take it easy and relax.
Then on Friday we took a Coastal Boat Tour which was so nice. This is the boat we rode on. The skies and sea could not have been more blue this day. We were so thankful the days we had to explore together, were both beautiful.
Lex loved the marina with all the colorful sail boats. He did a puzzle as a child of this exact scene, including the Marine Shop and had it hanging on his wall for years.
Can you tell I am a tourist? LOL! I actually had many people come up to me speaking French, assuming I was too, surprisingly!
Each night we had an amazing dinner! Here we are headed out one night to dinner with a sunset view!
Here's the menu of the Cafe we ate at for lunch before our boat tour.
Best Croque-Monsieur ever! Delish!
After the boat tour we walked around Old Town Nice, looking in all the little shops. We found this cute toy store and had to get the kids a little gift. The boys got wooden cork gun shooters & Katelyn got a musical jewelry box.
Dinner was back near the farmers market outside on the street. Amazing!
We also rented bikes to take from our hotel into the heart of the city. The idea sounded great, but it was a lot longer than we thought. Once we made it through the "city" and got to ride on the Promenade, it was great!! Glad we did it, but we took an Uber home! LOL!
And we found an amazing Gelato Place. We ate at one that was good, but I had read about this one so when we stumbled upon it, we had to get a second cup. So many choices and delicious!
The next day we took our time getting ready and eating our last French Breakfast of Nutella Crepes, croissants, etc. and flew all day home, making it just in time to sing Kyler Happy Birthday!
Au Revoir!
