Lex ran his second Half Marathon earlier in December...wahooo! He did great! He trained much harder this year and was very prepared, but he got sick the week before the race and just couldn't shake it, so his time suffered. Overall though, we are so proud! And most of all, he has inspired Katelyn's love of running too!
Finish Line!
After we dropped him off at 6 am....the rest of us hit up breakfast and it was delish!
The next weekend, Katelyn had her big 5K with Girls on the Run. She's been training after school since September and has found a true love for running...plus she's really fast! The girls all had to have a parent run with them, so I decided to run too. I enjoy running too and I'm not that slow, but this girl has a competitive spirit and really wanted to win, so about 1 mile in I let her run ahead and she ended up getting 4th place in her age group. She was only 7 seconds behind the 1st place winner, I wish I had been able to let her run ahead from the start, she may have won! Love her desire win!
Here are the results. Look at the chip time, that's the actual time.
And with her motivation, I went faster than I would have on my own probably. I got 3rd, although there were only 12 in my age group, but I was still happy with my time!
And then the other race we did, was the Kids Rock, which was a 1 mile run and Levi joined in on this one. It was down near the Alamo and crowded! I ran with Levi and Lex and Kyler waited for Katelyn at the finish since she ran alone. Levi did great and ran with a smile the whole time, great job for his first race and no training! Katelyn sprinted the whole way and Lex clocked her around 6 min. 30 sec. for a mile....she's super fast!
