Spring Break

Spring Break was super low key over here. We started off strong with the Kim's 60th Birthday Party and a hockey game with Levi's friends....BUT then that evening Katelyn got the chills...yep...101 temp! The next day it got up to 103...but after tylenol she kept going strong! Off and on all week she would get a little low grade fever up to 101, but never more. It must have been a mild version of the flu, since it lasted so long. Overall, she felt good, especially with Tylenol, so we never got her checked at the doc for an official Flu diagnosis, but that's just my guess. Luckily, these kiddos love playing at home, so that's mostly what we did. They played a lot....LEGOs mostly, plus hotel, restaurant, board games, movie nights, book time, and lots of outside time. Here they got caught in the rain....the weather was so strange this week. It started off below freezing and then got up to 80 later in the week. With lots of threats of rain. That's Texas in the spring for you!

We also had a quick little "staycation" in downtown San Antonio. We stayed in a hotel (with points from Lex's work travel), hit up Mi Tierra for dinner, the riverwalk, a boat cruise, the gym at the hotel and swimming in the hotel pool. The kids love staying in a hotel, so it was nice to get out of the house for a night.

We were also planning to spend a night at the Nichol's river house and a night at Cindy's house, but decided we'd better not spread Katelyn's flu germs...just to be safe. Boo.

Notice the short sleeves above and the hats and coats below. It was a crazy week!

We ended the week Fanicks Nursery buying plants for our back porch flower bed. We all had fun picking out the plants and working in the yard....including a big bonfire!!

Good-bye Cast

He got his cast off two weeks ago and all is good. Other than it getting pretty stinky, it never seemed to hold him back. He was a trooper! He did wear a brace for two more weeks, but that was easy too. Here's to hoping that's his only broken bone!!

And a few more fun things with my daytime buddy....spinning art, backyard hiking, playground fun, and easter decoration art! Love my little one on one time with him!

Poth Girls BB

The Poth girls basketball team made it to the State Tournament and played in the Alamodome. They cancelled school for the whole district so we could all go to cheer them on and we had so much fun. It was great to go to such a big facility and see so many people that you know.

They ended up losing the game, but we had a blast!

Garage Workshop Progress

Well, we've been in construction mode again for a few weeks while we have a garage/workshop built. They should actually be done this week, which is super exciting, so we can get our backporch uncluttered from tools, bikes, mud, etc....we are pumped!

This is the huge pumper truck they brought in to pour the cement. Luckily, the kids were home from school for Presidents Day, so they got to watch the whole process and we were able to get their handprints in the concrete. We would have done ours as well, but the cement was too dry by the time Lex got home from work.

Once they started framing, it went up really fast. They should be done tomorrow, other than the garage doors, which will be put in on Thursday/Friday of this week. Then we can start filling it up!

We also started the flower bed off the backporch this week. The plants look puny in this picture, but they aren't quite that small. I'm hoping they'll grow quick and we won't kill them :) We're planning to add gravel rocks between the flat rocks in the middle as a pathway off the backporch to the yard. It's our own little DIY attemp....not too bad.

A boys dream come true.....a tractor ride in his own backyard! Our country boys!

This kid.

He is really growing up this year! He's reading like a 3rd grader and racking up the AR points....he's already hit the required 50 points for the big 1st grade incentive to the movies at the end of the year! And he's still going strong. He loves the Magic Treehouse books mostly, but is mostly enjoying that the other kids in the class come to him when they don't know how to read something. He is really starting to thrive!

And he chose to try out baseball too. He's got a great little team of kiddos and were excited to watch him enjoying it.

A few fun pics with friends lately too.....Sophia's birthday party at Urban Air!

And then we invited Sophia and Graham to our house in Poth for the first time. He looked forward to this for weeks! Love seeing these sweet preschool friends play together again, just like old times!

The Leissner's

And he went to a Rampage hockey game with a group of sweet boys from Poth last weekend. These boys are going to be lots of fun to watch grow up together.

Love this sweet, fun loving, lego loving, bike riding, life of the party, kiddo!
