Katelyn is thriving in school this year. She was immediately admitted to the GT program in Poth, within a few weeks of moving here, completely by suggestions of her teachers. She impresses us so much with her sweet and smart attitude. And apparently captured the attention of her teachers from the beginning. Her GT class went on a field trip to the Toyota plant to observe the engineering process that goes into building a car/truck. She really enjoyed it.
She is a loyal reader every night. This is how I find her most nights before I go to bed.
AND she was 1 of 3 girls selected in 4th grade to compete in the Writing UIL competition. This was our first year to even hear about UIL academic compeitions for elementary, so we weren't quite sure what we were getting into when she 'tried out'. She stayed after school once a week for an hour and wrote essays every weekend for 3 months to prepare. She spent at least 2-3 hours each weekend on these essays. Her hard work paid off because she got 2nd place, the only Poth kid to place. We are so proud. She truly loves to write.
