Homeschool

We've been "homeschooling" now for 4 weeks and these kids have made it pretty easy!

Katelyn does all of her work completely by herself on Google Classroom. She gets up at 6 am (with her alarm) and gets to work. When the boys and I wake up (closer to 7) she takes a break, eats breakfast and then gets back to work. I couldn't be more thankful and proud that she is taking the initiative to do it all on her own. She's even doing optional work, like a book club with her reading teacher, and logging on to zoom 2x a week to discuss the book, just for fun! She is learning so much about technology and how to work it, which in this day and age is going to be so helpful!

The boys and I have gotten a pretty good routine going as well. We get up, eat breakfast, get dressed and then get started around 8 am. Most of their work, I take pictures of and send to their teachers. Here are a few of the more fun things they've done (they also have regular worksheets too).

Zoom Meeting with his reading teacher....

This one Kyler made just for fun....a count down paper chain for his birthday. He practiced writing numbers, so we counted it as "homeschool" work.

The Kinder teachers have posted a ton of "read alouds" on the website so the kiddos get to watch their teachers read them books each day. This has been a highlight of homeschool for Kyler.

And Raz Kids is also a favorite of his....

"Make your favorite food at home and write down the steps...."

Shaving Cream numbers and shapes....

Research a historical figure and why they became famous...

Kyler's first Zoom with his Kindergarten Class....they did show and tell and he showed them his lego creation....a motorcycle carrier.

Draw a map of your house and label it....

My Check List to keep us on task each day....I've added a few things their school isn't requiring. We usually get it all done by lunch time.

Friday they announced that schools are officially closed for the rest of the school year. Katelyn is starting to miss her teachers and friends the most. Levi loves being home the most. And Kyler is indifferent for the most part. He loved school, but also loves playing at home.

I am sad that they will miss out on the end of year fun, like the awards ceremony (they had all been working so hard toward several goals, like AR Points, Bluebonnet Readers, PE Miles, etc.), 5th grade dances & parties, and the kindergarten graduation.

Although we'll miss out on those things, we are really enjoying all the time together. Time we'll always remember!
