Track season has come to an end for Katelyn's 9th grade year and it ended on a super high note, with a PR in the 1600 at the Regional Meet of a 5:30. After a slump mid season, we determined she must have been having a growth spurt so we added in a lot more food, vitamins, and BEETS to increase her VO2 Max. She was sucking air, coughing, and completely drained by the end of her races and by the end of the season she PR'd. There's so much more to running, than just running and we are learning as we go!
Before Regionals, she got 3rd place behind Rylee & Brooklyn at Area to qualify for the Regional Meet. We've got some fast girls in our district!
First place as a team at Area
This is Coach McKinney's last year as head Coach for girls track and cross country. We are going to miss him, Katelyn truly loves having him as a coach. It won't be the same without him. He has a way of being witty and funny, but having high expectations of the girls without ever yelling or showing disappointment on bad days. He's the perfect coach for Katelyn, we're going to miss him!
A few weeks ago, we cashed in our Christmas gift from Lindsay with tickets to see Lauren Daigle. She got us 4 tickets so Katelyn could bring a friend, so Mercedes came along too. It was so fantastic, I always liked her music, but seeing her live was pretty great! She's a Christian artist, but has a hippie vibe. She's pretty amazing!
Katelyn was inducted into the National Beta Club this month as well, which is a huge honor. Only 5 freshman were inducted, we are so proud!!
The distance girls are not only fast, they are smart too!
Izzy got fixed this month and we let her recover in the laundry room, the kiddos all loved having her in the house. Homework is better with a kitty in your lap <3
