Fun Times

This has been a great week so far. It's our first full week home and it's been great! Two major highlights were strawberry picking and horseback riding ! Our friend, Jasmin, and her family live right over the border in NC and invited our playgroup up for our weekly playdate to ride their pony. It was a big hit for the kids!

Strawberry season hit early this year since it's been warmer than normal so we headed up to our favorite spot to pick some fresh berries on Saturday morning, Beachwood Farms. Just like last year, Katelyn ate them up like they were going out of style as we were picking and has yet to eat one since we got home....silly girl.

Sad Goodbye

It has taken me awhile to get up the courage to post this, but a few weeks ago we found a new home for Ginobili. It is something we have tossed around for awhile, but felt guilty and knew we would miss him. We've had Gino since he was 8 weeks old and we were still newlyweds. He's grown up with us in this house!  He was a very good dog and always great with the kids too, but now that we have 2 kids we just weren't giving him the attention he needed and he was adding more stress than companionship.   We were a little worried about how Katelyn was going to react, but she has been taking it very well. When we finally told her he was going to be staying with the other family and not coming home, she didn't seem too phased by it, but said she was going to miss him and still talks about him daily.....how he is going to eat the food she drops, about playing with him at the park, and she continues to pray for him every night before bed. I am sad that Levi is not going to have that same experience with a dog, but I believe it was the right thing to do.

We miss you Gino!!

I took these pictures the day he left :(

One last shake.... :(

Last Days...bittersweet

This past Tuesday was my last day with FGP, it was a bittersweet day. Basically after many years (since 2005) our commission structure changed and unfortunately with that change it just didn't make sense for me to continue working, considering I would only be making a tad more than what I was paying in daycare. I am going to miss having a couple of days per week to have some adult conversation and lunch breaks to run errands that are tough with 2 kids, but I am so excited to spend more time with those same 2 kids. I really love being a stay at home mom and now that Levi is sleeping through the night, I have the energy again (I don't think I've had this much energy in over a year - pregnancy and a newborn will do that I guess), but I have already been so productive and using pinterest daily for activities and recipes. I've got plans to put Katelyn in a small preschool in the Fall and hopefully will get in MOPS too! I believe everything works out for a reason, God already has a plan, so I'm just going with it. I actually just a got a call this afternoon from FGP wanting me to come in and help out on a project in June too, so I know I will always be connected there as long as we are living in Greenville.

With that said, Tuesday was also Katelyn and Levi's last day at Park Place Children's Center. They were only there shortly (February thru April), but we were just starting to feel settled in there and we are going to miss it. Levi's teacher, Ms. Pat, has offered several times to babysit for us and we plan on taking her up on that! Both of them received cute signs from their fellow classmates to remember their time. It's funny because I feel more sad that we left after getting these signs and art work. They saved all the good art for the walls and we finally got to take all that home. Its pretty cute stuff. I've taken a picture and saved a few pieces, I think I'm going to make a picture book of all their artwork eventually (an idea from pinterest) so I don't have to save every piece!

Cuties

Just a few new cute pics of Levi too! He is getting pretty good at sitting these days, looking like a big boy!

And LOVES chewing on his toes! :)

Daddy Time

This weekend Katelyn and Lex (and a little of Levi and I) had a great time getting out and enjoying the weather! They went and picked out plants for the veggie garden and flowers for the back porch. Katelyn got her very own princess gloves, hand shovel and rake, and watering can! She really got a kick out of that! Here she is after watering the flowers (and everything around it)!

On Saturday morning, they went to an air show. One of the guys Lex works with BUILT this airplane and had it on display at the air show! We actually went out a few years ago (before the kids were born) and saw it in the beginning stages, now he takes it all over the place (i.e. - to the coast just to buy fresh seafood, ah, the life!) Anyways, he let them climb in to take pictures and even offered to take Katelyn up for a ride, but we opted to wait until she was a little older for that. They had a great time! (and Levi and I enjoyed a nice leisurely walk and errands.)

Happy Easter

We spent today as a family...blueberry pancakes, church (first time for Levi in the nursery, not sure why we didn't do that earlier, the ladies in the baby room are so sweet. He fell asleep and we had to wake him up to go, he was not so happy about that.), lunch, naps, and an afternoon full of swimming and cooking out. We had a fabulous day celebrating!

The Easter Bunny even showed up this morning!!

Our playgroup held our annual Easter Party playdate at the Glenn's house. We had a great time playing, crafting, eating and hunting eggs! Our group is starting to grow now that some of the 2nd round kiddos are walking!

Last weekend we went to a community egg hunt put on by a local church. It was INSANE!! EVERYONE came, so for the 2 year olds who follow the rules with their Daddy's...there weren't many eggs left over. Luckily this Mamma picked a few up before they were all gone. They did get some major points for dropping eggs by helicopter! They had bounce houses, hot dogs, etc, but we were so discouraged by the hunt, we left early to beat the traffic and went to get frozen yogurt instead. We'll probably skip this next year.

I sure wish we were closer to family for Easter. My side of the family has a big egg hunt every year and I look forward to the day that Katelyn and Levi get to take part. I always loved them growing up myself.
Happy Easter!
