Levi's class hatched baby chicks as a class project and he was chosen to get to take one home! He was so excited! We set up a nice cardboard box with newspaper in his room at first, but just a few minutes in this little chick got lonely...he was peeping so much, we moved him to the garage, LOL!
By the next day all three kiddos were begging that "Beeker" could have some friends. So we went to tractor supply to get one more friend, but they only sell them in groups of 4....so now we had 5!
Not long after that, one of our chicks got lost...it's still a mystery as to where it went, but we needed some more food for the chicks so we went to Tractor Supply again and came home with 4 more! LOL
Levi takes care of them every morning and Katelyn takes the evening shift. They love these little guys. They are now 5 weeks old and tripled in size! Luckily, our good friend Gina passed her old chicken coop to us so Lex is fixing it up for them and we should be able to get them outside by this weekend! They are definitely outgrowing their box (we upgraded them to a large tub). We've had to put the lid on partially so they don't fly/jump out!
This will be a great learning experience and hopefully we'll get some eggs out of the deal too!
These chicks were super popular when they were tiny! Aren't they cute!
