Baked Food Show

We had TWO winners this year in the Baked Food Show for Wilson County! Both Katelyn and Kyler won Reserve Champion for their candies this year. Katelyn in the Senior division and Kyler in the Junior division. They were so excited because that meant they got to be in the auction, where local companies and families "bid" (or donate) to them for winning. They each scored a lot of moolah!! Too much in my opinion, but they are stoked!

Kyler also got 5th place for his Unfrosted Cake, which we were super surprised about! We thought it was a major dud, but apparently a crumbly cake is a good thing! The taste was great, it just was crumbly, but the judges liked that! We'll have to keep that in mind for the future!

Chocolate Almond Toffee **Winner

Levi made Southern Pecan Pralines that were amazing!! We think they didn't know what a southern pecan praline was supposed to taste like, because they commented on the texture. We believe they were comparing them to the pralines you get a Mexican restaurant that are more caramel textured. Who knows, but they were delish!

Lemon Blondies...we knew these were a fail, but oh well!

Pecan Upside Down Unfrosted Cake

Butter Pecan Fudge **Winner

Kyler made his fudge 100% on his own. It's the 3rd year he's made this fudge and by far the best because he had to make it when I wasn't even home. Lex "supervised" from the couch on the other side of the room, which basically means he just made sure the house didn't burn down, haha!

Levi and Katelyn did great as well, I just sat there and read the recipe for them while they did all the work! Moral support was the goal!
