The Sunday before Christmas, Lex was playing basketball at the High School gym in the "old man's basketball league". He'd been playing for a few months and really enjoying getting back into the game and meeting some new guys from around the area. He even dunked the ball a few times, which he hadn't done in 20 or so years!! I had even gotten him some basketball shoes for Christmas, which he hadn't opened yet!
BUT....he must have planted wrong and he tore his ACL! He called me and I got some crutches from Kim and Dean and had to go pick him up. He recovered fairly quickly but couldn't extend his leg completely and walked with a limp for about a month until we got the final prognosis from the doc. It was torn and he had the choice if he wanted to have the surgery. We decided he's too young to limp the rest of his life and have restrictions on what he can do, so we opted for surgery.
Little did we know how hard the recovery is. We are two weeks out now and finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It was rough and way harder than we thought. He still can't bend his knee very well, the goal is to get it to 90 degrees by this point, but it is just too tight. He started PT last week, so it'll happen and is improving it's just slow. Not being able to drive is the hardest part, or let alone bend is leg enough to even fit in the front passenger seat. Praying for a full recovery!
This is about a week and half after surgery, still very swollen!
My backseat driver! haha!
Progress!
