Cross Country season has come and gone now. Looking back it seemed to fly by this year! They had a lot of success and really started to peak by the end of September, but then Katelyn's back / SI joint started to give her a lot of trouble. And Sadie fell and split her knee open during practice. We weren't quite sure what the rest of the season was going to look like.
McNeil Invitational in Roundrock mid September....looking so strong!!
Friday morning to-go breakfast!!
October 1st, two days after her best meet of the year (Islander Splash) and one day after a 5 hour cheer practice. She ran an 8 mile run, like she had been doing every Monday. But this time, she ended it with super sharp back pain! She could barely walk and we had no idea what was going on. We took her to an Airrosti and that seemed to help a little. We went 3 times and the last time he did a chiropractor adjustment, but that seemed to make it worse. She couldn't walk straight and missed running in the District Meet. We decided to try an actual Chiropractor (went twice), cupping (at home), and a manual physical therapist. Finally after the physical therapy appointment, she was able to run again!! Basically her muscles were just over worked and needed rest. The manual PT worked out her muscle tightness and he gave her exercises to engage her core more before she runs. By the end of the session, she ran a whole block with a smile on her face! Answered prayers!!
District XC Family Dinner @ VFW
Carb loading and Game Playing....love that Levi was included even though he only ran in one meet :)
1st Place in the District (even without Katelyn running)!
Harper ran the District Meet too, after only a few days of running practice. Mosely pulled her and a few other girls up so they would have a team for the District Meet. They did so well for not having had much time to practice!
Levi cheering on his best buds who did fantastic, both medaling!!
These girls have so much fun together!! Buccees Beaver suits for the win!
On to Regionals!!! And Katelyn was back running, but only for about a week, so her endurance wasn't back yet, but her back was feeling much better!!
We decorated the locker room and served the kids breakfast the day before the meet!
1st Place at Regionals!!!
With Katelyn having two weeks off and Sadie having stitches in her knee we had no idea how this race was going to go, but they did it! It all came together and they did great!
Traditional breakfast and send off the day before the meet....
Walking the course, the day before. They even got to meet MacFarland (from the movie MacFarland).
Team Prayers and Photos....
And they are off....you can see Katelyn on the left.
4th Place Finish as a team!!
33rd Place for Katelyn as an individual
(both improved over last year)
They were hoping things would come together a little more, to receive a medal, but they were so close and should be so proud. They overcame a lot this season, pushing through, and supporting one another. And most of all, became the bestest of friends!
Such a great season!! Thanks to these coaches for all they do!!
Coach Walker, Coach Luna (athletic director), Coach Mosely, and Coach McKinney (retired but still comes to all the practices and meets)!!
