Hawai'i - Day 1

We were all so excited to finally go on a trip we've been anticipating for a while, for me a lifetime! We decided this was the year to go as it was also the year we celebrated 20 years of marriage. We chose to go to the Big Island of Hawai'i so we could experience both the beaches and rainforest/volcanos! I had heard it was less touristy and commercialized, which is more our style.

We dropped off Cookie at Lindsay's house and headed to the Austin Airport. Lex had enough airline points that our flights were completely paid for! We were even able to upgrade to Comfort Plus on the longer flight, which was great! 3 hours to LA, then 5 hours to Kona. The kids lucked out and got extra leg room too!

It was a little tricky finding Kyler food, but I had heard about the Farmer's Fridge from a friend so we sprinted through the airport, through several terminals to go get him some steak bites and cheddar for his dinner in LA.

We arrived in Kona around 6 pm at their adorable open air airport, so cute!! It felt more like midnight to us, so we got our rental car and headed straight to our AirBNB, at the Kona Makai Condos.
