Hawai'i - Day 7

We made our way to Hilo, HI from Volcano and decided to see if our hotel might have our room ready, lucky for us, they did! We checked in around 10 am and decided to spend the morning enjoying the water. We walked down to Coconut Island, which was directly in front of our hotel in Hilo Bay.

The kids found a cliff jumping spot that was much more doable compared to South Point, so they spent quite a while here jumping in with the local kids!

From there we checked out the hotel pool and Lex surprised us all with coconut water, which was the best we've ever had. The kids ended up having a few more before we left Hilo!

That afternoon, we explored the shops in downtown Hilo and found the best organic shaved ice around! Hawaii is known for it's shaved ice, so I knew we needed to try some.  Lucky for us this place had really clean ingredients so even Kyler was able to enjoy something right off the menu! Pineapple and Coconut Milk = delish!! Levi had an orange dreamsicle and Katelyn had coconut & chocolate! I wish there were places like this in Texas! We also walked through the Farmers Market where Katelyn picked up some dragon fruit to try. And we stopped into Two Ladies Kitchen to get some Mochi, which was another recommendation I had read about online. Today was all about the sweet treats apparently! :)

Happy 4th!! We had to get a quick mirror pic in the hotel of our red, white & blue :)

After shopping, we walked around the hotel grounds to explore and found a Japanese Tea Garden and some really old cool trees!

That evening we decided to eat at the hotel. Since it was the 4th of July, we weren't quite sure how traffic and parking would be as it got closer to the Hilo Bay Fireworks show. Well, the restaurant was booked and we were turned away and went to sit in the lobby to figure out what we were going to do for dinner. A few minutes later, the host came out and asked if we were okay with a table in the back, because he thought he could make it work if we were patient. We said yes, of course! He came back a few minutes later and said our table was ready and he had found us a table right in the middle with a great view. He commented saying he really wanted to find room for us because we were all dressed up:)

Crab legs, Kalua Pork & Rice, Poke, Teriyaki Beef, and lot of stuff I can't remember. It was delish and a great way to celebrate our last night in Hawaii and the Fourth of July!  Thanks to the host that made it possible!

After dinner we went outside the hotel for a photo shoot! Katelyn and I grabbed these leis from our Walmart before we left, so happy we did!

Happy Fourth of July

We headed back up to our room and watched the firework show from our balcony while we ate Mochi! I booked this hotel for this exact reason, a view of the fireworks on our last night in Hawaii! Perfection!
